One of the most popular items for sushi and sashimi, octopus (yanagi tako) is a sweet, mild-tasting, lean seafood. In sushi bars, the octopus is typically pre-cooked which results in its desirable chewy texture. In addition to sashimi and sushi presentations, octopus is delicious in tacos and salads. Our whole octopus is fully cooked and frozen Madako octopus from Japan. A premium alternative to our pre-sliced tako, it is of the highest quality for your sashimi and sushi. To enjoy, defrost in its package overnight in your refrigerator, or in an ice water bath for quicker results. Serving suggestions are endless! Slice cold for sashimi, sushi or a chilled seafood salad. Create an Italian-inspired appetizer by cutting the octopus tentacles, placing on a platter and drizzling with olive oil, lemon juice and seasoning with salt and pepper. Alternatively, reheat octopus by grilling and finish with olive oil, lemon juice, garlic and oregano.
