Product Descriptions

Bluefin tuna is one of the most highly prized of all types of tuna used by sushi chefs, and is always in high demand. They can get as long as six feet and up to 300 pounds, but the average weigh is 60 to 100 pounds. This fish is not very popular cooked as it is extremely popular for sushi. Bluefin tuna are found all over the world, usually in deep offshore waters.

At Catalina Offshore we carry farmed and wild Pacific bluefin. While Pacific bluefin is considered overfished in some areas, it is not considered threatened. The U.S is working with ICCAT to rebuild wild bluefin stocks and adheres to strict catch regulations. U.S fisheries generally harvest a small fraction of the total Pacific-wide bluefin harvest, and represent only two percent of the average annual landings from all fleets fishing in the Eastern Pacific Ocean. Our fish are handled with care and graded by our seafood specialists who check for color and fat content.
