What good is success if you don’t give back to others?
Our underground demo-and-dinner grew out of an idea that our fishmonger Tommy Gomes had to bring chefs together with the local food community. The mission behind the event is to educate, promote and have fun – all while donating to a good cause.
Working with our event partner Specialty Produce, we invite a guest chef or chefs to prepare several seafood dishes in front of a live audience on a semi-monthly basis. We chat, laugh, and learn about seafood along the way. Of course we eat, too! Above all, we don’t take ourselves too seriously. Collaboration Kitchen is not a “cooking class” in the traditional sense, but more like a backyard gathering with friends who like to cook and eat – comfortably seated in the middle of our processing plant!
Ticket sales are only announced on social media so be sure to ‘Like’ Collaboration Kitchen and Catalina Offshore Products on Facebook! All proceeds from ticket sales are donated to local nonprofits that benefit children. For the best experience, you’ll want to wear warm clothing, and BYOB. We’ll supply the rest!
From fish tacos to white tablecloths
Catalina Offshore Products also gives back to the community by participating in various events across San Diego County. We are particularly supportive of food-centric events and organizations that bring people closer to our local food scene – to our trusted farmers, fishermen, purveyors and chefs. Additionally we support organizations that promote responsible fishing, aquaculture and the conservation of our marine resources. You might just catch us slinging fish tacos at a children’s fishing tournament, searing scallops at a gala fundraiser, or sharing samples of calamari salad at the next charitable awards banquet you attend!
