SAN DIEGO, Calif., April 8, 2014—Catalina Offshore Products announced today that Nathan Phillips has been appointed as General Manager. The wholesale and retail company is one of Southern California’s premier seafood purveyors and San Diego’s only exporter of sea urchin. Phillips will oversee staff and day-to-day operations.
Phillips brings a diverse level of business experience to Catalina Offshore Products. He is a veteran of the hospitality and food services industry, with more than 30 years in the management and leadership of successful teams. His expertise provides a strong background in operations, planning and strategy along with an extensive sales and business development network throughout the U.S. and Canada.
He joins Catalina Offshore Products most recently from Compass Group, a leader in foodservice management and support services. Among its affiliates are Eurest Dining Services, which operates in 80 countries, providing staff, restaurants and vending machines for businesses, and Bon Appétit Management Company, which provides café and catering services to corporations, colleges and universities.
In his executive roles with Compass Group affiliates, Phillips provided consulting and planning support to Microsoft Corporation, JP Morgan Chase and WaMu (previously Washington Mutual). Operations and finance is also a large part of Phillip’s background, having worked with Amazon, Gates Foundation, Russell Investments, Intel Corporation, and their vendors. His most recent contract was with Qualcomm.
Previously, Phillips worked extensively in retail and franchising as a business consultant and manager for Fortune 100 companies, directing business units of $100 million and leading teams handling more than $500 million.
At Catalina Offshore Products, Phillips looks forward to applying a creative and focused approach to accelerating business potential, increasing performance delivery and coordinating project management, as well as sharing a passion for community involvement.

Phillips is currently completing a sustainable business program at City University in Seattle, the focus of which is the integration of environmentally-sound practices in management systems and decision processes, such as corporate social responsibility reporting, procurement, governance and ethics. In his free time, he enjoys skiing, yoga, golf, dining, fine wines and spending time with friends. He also anticipates dusting off his scuba certification very soon.
Phillips resides in San Diego with his partner, Molly Morrissey. He has two children, Matthew and Allison, who reside in Watertown, N.Y. and Fresno, Calif. respectively.
